US Natural Gas jumps almost 20% as Arctic blast takes hold

U.S. natural gas futures climbed above $6 per million British thermal units for the first time since 2022, driven by an intense winter storm that increased heating demand and disrupted production. The extreme cold pushed prices sharply higher after a record rally the previous week, while power systems faced added strain and natural gas supply dropped in several regions.

Oil prices rise as harsh winter disrupts US output

Oil prices edged higher on Monday after climbing more than 2% in the previous session, as output disruptions in major U.S. crude-producing regions and tensions between the U.S. and Iran boosted prices. Brent crude futures rose 7 cents, or 0.1%, to $65.95 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was at $61.10 a barrel, up 3 cents, or 0.1%.
